I write because the Camp David Accords, the first peace treaty that Israel signed with any of her neighbors will reach its 30th anniversary next year. This is especially meaningful to me as the composer of "A Camp David Overture (Prayer for Peace)," a work I wrote over 10 years ago which was inspired by the Camp David Accords. This is a particularly significant anniversary since it marks the beginning of 30 years of peace between Israel and Egypt, whereas prior to the accords, there had been 30 years where a state of war existed. I am seeking interest in a performance of "A Camp David Overture" in Israel and Egypt next year to comemmorate this occasion (how wonderful it would be if it could be performed by an orchestra of young musicians from Israel and Egypt). I am hopeful. A recent performance in Washington DC was attended by representatives of the Israeli and Egyptian embassies. Do any members of the Peace Portal have any suggestions/contacts that could help me with this peace initiative. Thank you.
Please find Eyal and Lemuel here. Put their names in the member search bar. They are both active in ME peace, based in Israel. Lemuel is a frequent contributor here. Also, look up Dot Maver for your DC contact. She's out and about this month, so if you email her it will take a while for a response, but she is golden to your work!
I'll be happy to reach out to the people you suggested! I'll also look forward to learning more about your work and the work of other members of this group.
Hi Bruce, all the best with this project - three contacts come to mind: Mike Abkin mike@thepeacealliance.org, Nina Meyerhof coevt@aol.com, and Aaron Voldman aaron@thepeacealliance.org
Hi Bruce, you'll see that both Aaron and Mike have joined us on the Peace Portal today. You can find people by entering their names into the search box on the member page. I hope Nina will join us soon too... such good company!
I would recommend reaching out to Dr. Gershon Baskin (gershon@ipcri.org). He is director of the IPCRI (Israeli-Palestine Center for Information). The IPCRI was founded in Jerusalem in 1988 and is the only joint Israeli-Palestinian public policy think-tank in the world. It is devoted to developing practical solutions for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
