What is your interest in PeaceWork?
By becoming more peaceful inside, then we contribute to a more peaceful world in which different perspectives can be honored and a rich tapestry of diversity can flourish.
How long have you been involved in PeaceMaking?
About 20 years
Are you currently involved in any non-profit or volunteer work?
I facilitate meditation groups and volunteer time as a board member of an organization called Universal Awakening..
What is your Passion? Your Purpose?
I love meditation and to sing and dance the diversity of the world's sacred traditions to discover the unity within diversity. My purpose involves helping people heal from suffering and discover their inner resources such as peace, compassion, courage, love, discernment and wisdom so they can live more purposefull and meaningful lives.
How do any products or services you offer contribute to making the world more peaceful?
As a counselling therapist and meditation facilitator I help people become more aware of the inner conflict and resources within themselves and develop awareness and skill at inner peacemaking.
Is there anything else that you'd like us to know about you?
In July 2006 my wife Sue and I were married in a wonderful inter-faith service in which Christian and Sufi ministers worked beautifully together. At the reception many different spiritual leaders worked harmoniously together and let chants from various traditions such as Jewish, Sufi, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu and First Nations. The diverse contrasts seemed to make each tradition more beautiful. Our dear friend Alana brought the peace banners to adorn our alter, which became the fabric that united this tapestry. There was such a feeling of reverence, hope and sense of wholeness at all these different traditions being able to co-exist in the beautiful harmony of human voices celebrating our union. It felt like everyone was experiencing an inner union of their own. Two friends of ours, one from Canada and the other from the United States met at the wedding, fell in love and are presently in a relationship.
The Sufi teacher Hazrat Inayat Khan remarked in the early 1920's that "music will be the religion of the future" and in that moment it felt as if his prophecy had come true. His message was that if we learn the sacred songs and dances of different traditions and sing together the focus will be on what is essentially similar whithin each tradition rather than what if different and divisive. As we get to know and respect each other in our humaness then we can celebrate the diversity of difference. It was one of those precious moments when hope for the possibility of humanity's peaceful co-existance with each other and the planet was re-kindled. Shalom, Salam, Shanti, Peace.

Hi Subhan,
I just wondered if there might be any pics from your beautiful wedding that I might add to the collection of events where the banners have been shown?
I have that Ghandi quote on a window of my car. I'm right there with you on peace from within.
Blessings, J*
