Do you have a favorite quote to share?
Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and then go do that,
because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
Harold Thurman Whitman
What is your interest in PeaceWork?
see below
How long have you been involved in PeaceMaking?
I have had a passion for justice since I was a child. I started Global Village School in 1999.
Are you currently involved in any non-profit or volunteer work?
Yes. I am the founding director of Global Village School (www.globalvillageschool.org), an international K-12 homeschool diploma program with a creative flexible approach and an emphasis on peace, justice, diversity, and sustainability. I believe that education is a key component of progressive social change, and Global Village is a natural extension of my passionate commitment to creating a more just and peaceful world. Through my work with Global Village School, I have given presentations in many locations including India, Thailand, Australia, New York, Chicago, and California.

I recently created a NING community called Power of the Heart (poweroftheheart.ning.com). It is focused on the ideas of “grassroots philanthropy” and activism. It’s about compassion, action, and change, and the power of an open heart. The basic idea is that you don't have to be rich to be a philanthropist, and that when your heart is touched by something in the world, you can do something that will make a difference.
What is your Passion? Your Purpose?
Great question! I'll get back to this one when I have more time.
How do any products or services you offer contribute to making the world more peaceful?
Global Village School provides a progressive curriculum with the goal of helping students become wise and capable stewards of the planet and each other.
Is there anything else that you'd like us to know about you?
I am also a musician and writer; my articles have been published on Commondreams.org and in Paths of Learning and Hopedance. I also do dream tending sessions (www.dreamvoices.com), helping people to understand the messages in their dreams. When I’m not working or playing music, I can often be found outside in my garden under the oaks in the Southern California foothills.

Seabiscuit Goes to Washington: On Hope, Vision, and Politics

Most of the time it is so incredibly disheartening to listen to these
candidates dance around the issues, strutting around like roosters
trying to show who’s the toughest – trying to prove that they
are the ones who can save us from “those evildoers.” I can barely stand
to watch them as they try to outdo each other: “I won’t talk to Iran
for my first year in office,” “I’ll bomb Pakistan,” “I’ll protect
marriage” (if they were serious about that maybe they should try
outlawing divorce. But… Continue

Dear Sally,

Kindred spirits we are in the realm of peace and dreams. I'd love for you to check out my profile here on the Peace Portal and see if the Peace Pie Mandala Project would be something you'd like to bring into your Global Village School. I've recently connected with Tracy and would like to extend the same donation of a "How To" kit to your organization.

Blessings and gratitude,
J*

Hi Tracy,
It's good to meet you. It's great that you've already been to our site. I'm so sorry about your mom..
As I read your bio it struck me that you might be interested in a Ning community I created called Power of the Heart (poweroftheheart.ning.com). It would be great to have you join us.
Peace and blessings,
Sally

Sally, I have actually been to your website. I am a life long learner and looked at some of your classes. Unfortunately, given that I recently (6 months) lost my mother and found myself taking over the morgage of my parents home so my father wouldn't loose it I just don't have available funds to use for my own pleasure.

I look forward to chatting with you.

Blessings,
Tracy

Hi, Thanks for letting me know about Tracy. Yes, we do seem to have quite a bit in common! And yes, it's projects in countries like Thailand, Sri Lanka, etc. that remind us just how rich we are...

Hi Sally, I hope you'll meet and greet our newest member, Tracy. You two have a bit in common.

BTW, I couldn't agree more on your views on philanthropy. We are rich in so many ways...
