Big Agro-Industry and the "Food Safety Act"

What effect will the Food Safety Act have on small local and organic farms - will it put them out of business and/or criminalize them? Make 4-H science projects illegal?

Evidently not (yet) - but there is reason for concern. See the debate developing here and call your Congressional representatives regarding HR 759.

From Starhawk, on Gaza

Dear friends,

All day I’ve been thinking about Gaza, listening to reports on NPR, following the news on the internet when I can spare a moment. I’ve been thinking about the friends I made there four years ago, and wondering how they are faring, and imagining their terror as the bombs fall on that giant, open-air prison.

The Israeli ambassador speaks movingly of the terror felt by Israeli children as Hamas rockets explode in the night. I agree with him—that no child should have her sleep menace… Continue

287 dead, 700 + injured, and thats j… Continue

Hello Phila,

Some months ago, the unknown word mahaivi resounded in my mind at night. I took down a poem about Love and Life. And I sketched a symbol of Life. The following morning I looked up the word. It was an old Polynesian word that means "to live and be alive". We are officially launching it on 1/1/9. Please visit www.mahaivi.net and help to spread it as a universal symbol of Peace, Love and Life.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Pedro
