Do you have a favorite quote to share?
I'm glad you asked!

If there is light in the soul, there will be beauty in the person. If there is beauty in the person, there will be harmony in the house. If there is harmony in the house, there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world. A Chinese Proverb

Unless you listen, you can't know anybody. Oh, you will know facts and what is in the newspapers and all of history, perhaps, but you will not know one single person. You know, I have come to think listening is love, that's what it really is

~ Brenda Ueland

It is astonishing how short a time it takes for very wonderful things to happen. ~ Frances Hodgson Burnett

"Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt,
kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate." Dr. Albert Schweitzer

"Spread love everywhere you go: first of all in your own house. Give love to your children, to your wife or husband, to a next door neighbor ... Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness; kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile, kindness in your warm greeting." ~ Mother Teresa

"No man or woman of the humblest sort can really be strong, gentle and good, without the world being better for it, without somebody being helped and comforted by the very existence of that goodness."
Phillips Brooks (1835-1893) American Bishop

Keep a green tree alive in your heart and a songbird may come to sing there. A Chinese Proverb

Love is our SOUL purpose. Unknown

The pure love of one soul can offset the hatred of millions. - Mahatma Gandhi

What is your interest in PeaceWork?
I'm interested, open to inspiration. I'm interested in any group that collectively pools its talents and wisdom to make positive change in the world, especially for peace.
How long have you been involved in PeaceMaking?
All my life. Formally, just getting started. In addition to my regular religious affiliation, I have spent many years in the Science of Mind (Church of Religious Science) and peace is way up on their "agenda."
Are you currently involved in any non-profit or volunteer work?
I had a son late in life (44) and stopped many of the things I used to do. He's now 20 and while still at home, I've retired, and am ready to resume my former activities and perhaps find new ones. I used to be a Hospice volunteer, work I greatly enjoyed. And, I was once very active in Amnesty International. I am also interested in animal welfare and have been quite active in People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. For volunteer work lately, I visit a couple of elderly ladies. I enjoy the elderly. When I go to Curves, my main physical workout these days, I see a sign on the wall from Jimmy Carter's mother, Lillian, that goes like this: "Sure, I'm interested in helping the elderly. I'm going to be old myself one day." She supposedly said this when she was in her 80s! That's the way I feel.
I'm also on the Sr. Advisory Board for my city and we work on projects to empower and relieve seniors in our area.
If not, would you like to be?
Open to inspiration and actually seeking an outlet.
What is your Passion? Your Purpose?
Peace, kindness, health, beauty, love, and justice, for all sentient beings. My purpose is to recognize, nurture, and applaud these things in myself and in all I have or will come to know. I am also working on personal transformation and growth.
How do any products or services you offer contribute to making the world more peaceful?
I do not offer any products.
Is there anything else that you'd like us to know about you?
I'm very interested in and affected by music. I try to surround myself with positive vibes, including the music I allow into my consciousness.

Check out The Mosaic Project. The album is entitled, The Mosaic Project, Children Singing Songs of Peace for a Better World. www.http://www.mosaicproject.org. My chiropractor's children sing the Salaam/Shalom song in Hebrew School and just love the catchy words and melodies.

"The Mosaic Project works towards a peaceful future by uniting children of diverse backgrounds, addressing issues of difference, and building self-esteem and community in our unique human-relations outdoor school. We create a microcosm of the diverse, inclusive, just world we want to see and show our young students that peace is possible. "

We are all the many tiles, so different and unique
Bound together in strength and unity.
We all make the Mosaic
Of our community
And help the world to live in harmony. (CHORUS)

The Planet Will Survive!

World Peace: I visualize world peace. I am NOT one, single, lonely, separate, helpless being. I am part of the ONE, the Whole of Life and Being. I am safe here and now. I CAN manifest love and healing for my world--now! The planet is NOT sick. It will survive. We humans have the opportunity to change the way we think, H… Continue

THE STORY OF STUFF

If you love this planet, and I think you do :->, you really need to see the video, The Story of Stuff. It has implications for each and every one of us, on every continent, in every high rise, hut, or tepee. Check it out before you do your holiday shopping. This is only the introduction - YouTube has the other segments, which give some eye-catching statistics about how we are using our natural resources (or using them up I should say) and what could happen if we continue as we have been.…

Thanks Susan! So nice to meet you! Thank you for the kindness. I was blessed as a child of the 80s. My parents did well, I had every opportunity, got to travel to Tokyo Japan as an exchange student when I was in high school and didn't really know what it meant to struggle or suffer. As an adult I have learned all to well what this means. I think I had to know the difference and have come to appreciate my struggle and suffering. How would we know the difference? What would be the point of existence?

Hi susan - thank you for that lovely comment about my smile! When I visited your page I was interested to see your interest in Science of Mind as one of my oldest friends here in the UK was a minister there. Your Chinese favourite quote is one I haven't come across before so if I may will share it with my creative catalyst newsletter subscribers. AnnA
